Built in 1923, the Flying Scotsman entered the record books both as the first engine to make the journey from London to Edinburgh non-stop and as the first engine to reach 100mph, achieved in 1934. The Flying Scotsman has secured a place in the public's affections as the most famous steam engine in the World and now you can enjoy a unique opportunity to ride in first class luxury behind this beautifully restored locomotive as it hauls trains from York to Scarborough. Agenda - Flying Scotsman First Class Child TicketThe lunchtime service departs York at 12.05pm and, after whisking you through the countryside, arrives at the Victorian seaside resort of Scarborough. Enjoy two hours at leisure, plenty of time for a stroll along the seafront or a spot of shopping, before the return journey to York which departs at 3.05pm. The evening service departs at 6.10pm and departs at 8.20pm with one hour in Scarborough. You can choose either of the two timings. All timings are approximate. Flying Scotsman First Class Child Ticket NotesOn purchasing this experience you will be issued with a voucher valid for departures until 8th September 2005. This experience runs from 31st May - 2nd June and then 5th July - 8th September on Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays only. You may choose either 12.05pm and 6.10pm departures from York. The journey lasts for one hour each way with either one or two hours at leisure in Scarborough before the return leg. The National Railway Museum will use all reasonable endeavours to run the Flying Scotsman service in accordance with the published schedule, however, this may not always be possible. Flying Scotsman is an old locomotive and, as such, is more prone to breakdown than more modern trains. In light of this fact, the purchase of your ticket is subject to the following terms: 1. The Museum may agree to a request by you to alter the dates and times of your tickets. An administration fee will be charged for any such alteration. 2. In the event of a locomotive failure or high fire risk, the Museum reserves the right to operate the service with Green Arrow, or an alternative steam or diesel locomotive. 3. Once a booking is made, no refund will be issued unless the service is cancelled by the Museum. The provision of Green Arrow or an alternative steam or diesel locomotive will not constitute a cancellation of the service for these purposes. This gift is available in York (Yorkshire) |
